During his escape, he swims alongside a boat, steals a bather's outfit, and rescues a struggling swimmer named Edna and her mother. Disguised as a bather, he ends up at Edna's home, where he faces the unexpected challenge of her father being the judge who sentenced him. Despite this, Charlie bluffs his way through and participates in social events. The situation intensifies when Big Eric discovers a newspaper with Charlie's escape news. Charlie manages to fool the family but is eventually pursued throughout the house. The chase ends with Charlie caught by a guard. However, in a surprising twist, Charlie introduces the guard to Edna, allowing him to slip away once more.
